Rites for the Christian Initiation of Adults
The RCIA is a spiritual journey made together, to deepen our understanding of the faith that the Catholic Church professes. At the Cathedral it means a weekly meeting with others who are also making the journey and with members of the RCIA team.
It consists of prayer, presentation and small group discussion. There is no time limit on the length of the process, for many it will be one of eight or nine months, for others it may be longer. The goal is to help all of us get a clearer sense of what our priorities should be and how we should live out our faith lives.
The RCIA follows a set process, but is adaptable to the needs of all of us who are making the journey. Each one of us starts at a different place and comes from a different direction, so The RCIA must reflect our differences.
Each year we journey in Faith with a group of Enquirers. Our gatherings start in September. If you are thinking of becoming a Catholic or simply interested in discovering more about our Catholic faith, you are very welcome to join us on Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm.

Landings for Returning Catholics
Landings is a unique and contemporary approach to support and aid any Catholic who wishes to return to the practice of their faith. Landings is designed to to provide a safe harbour or landing place for any Catholic wanting to return.
If you have been away from the Church for a while and you are considering coming back to the Church then Landings may be able to help you.
Landings is a ministry that will offer you:
- A supportive group within which you can talk confidentially through any issues, ask questions or deal with any difficulties.
- An opportunity to be with ordinary Catholics who are also trying to live their faith.
- A safe environment to come to terms with the changes that have taken place both within yourself and within your Church.
- A chance to grow in faith and learn from the spiritual journeys of others.
Come and talk with our Landings Welcomers, who meet at regular times during the year for about six weeks to provide this ministry. We are here to listen, help and support you in your journeys of faith.
