Christmas Lantern Carol Service
Sunday 20 December, thankfully a dry evening, the outdoor Lantern Carol Service took place in the gardens of the St Barnabas Cathedral.
It was fully booked out with the necessary social distancing parameters in place, limiting the number of occupancy but a great turn out nonetheless. It was very atmospheric, twig lit Christmas trees were in place, lanterns hung in the garden bushes surrounding the grounds; coffee, teas and warm mulled wine with mince pies made an appearance from the Cathedral Hall as people settled in for a wonderful evening of Christmas Carols and Scriptural readings with prayers.
Canon Malachy finished the evening off by thanking Gregory, our new Music Director, Neil Page, on piano, Colum O’Shea and the Youth Choir for organising and leading us on this really wonderful occasion, as well as all the stewards (ensuring all were kept safe with social distancing) and hospitality staff for providing the takeaway refreshments (mince pies) and warm drinks that enriched the evening. We hope to repeat this again this year and God willing free of any COV ID restrictions!
