The Cathedral is not just a busy parish, but it is the mother Church of the Diocese and a heritage attraction in the region.

The Cathedral is engaged in a vast array of  of activities and as such, many people- not just parishioners- give generously of their time, energy and skills to support many aspects of Cathedral life. Over 100,000 people visit the Cathedral annually and without volunteers, much of the Cathedral’s work would come to a standstill.

Perhaps you have particular knowledge, time or skills to offer?

The needs of the Cathedral are diverse and you will find a home for your skills and interests here. With the rise in digital working, a number of tasks can be done remotely as well as on site and with the variety of events and activity at the Cathedral, you can give of your time in regular and ad-hoc ways. We have each been blessed with gifts from the Lord and we are called to put these at the service of the mission and life of the Church, according to the circumstances of our life. Supporting the Cathedral in this way is also a great way to meet new friends.

From heritage and conservation management, to catechesis, supporting the liturgical celebrations of the Church, social outreach, fundraising, communications, administration, finance, IT, flower arranging, cleaning, music and much more… there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Perhaps there’s something you’d like to offer which isn’t listed here? Let us know and we will be pleased to hear from you.

If you would be interested in volunteering at the Cathedral, please contact the Cathedral Office.
