Since its foundation music has been integral to the life and liturgy of Nottingham Cathedral.

‘The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy.’

Sacrosanctum Concilium 112

The Cathedral has enjoyed a long and prosperous musical tradition that has grown and expanded considerably in recent years, representing a diverse group of musical talent from across Nottinghamshire and further afield.

It provides music for the Cathedral and Diocesan services across the year through the Cathedral Choir, Boys' Choir, Girls' Choir and Youth choir. Since September 2021, it has worked closely and collaboratively with the Diocesan Schools Singing Programme to help children from across the county access the Church’s rich tradition of sacred music.

Please find on this website details on how to support the musical foundation, or join one of our choirs.
