£15,000 Grant for Cathedral Roof Repairs

Restoring Pugin

Nottingham Civic Society has awarded the Cathedral a generous grant in support of its Restoring Pugin Project.

Canon Malachy delighted to receive a grant of £15,000 this week from the Nottingham Civic Society in support of the Cathedral's Restoring Pugin Project. This grant has been given with a specific remit to contribute towards the repair of the roofs of the East-End Chapels, the focus of our restoration project. As we continue to work to reveal and restore Pugin's original decorative schemes in the East-End of the Cathedral, this grant is an essential contribution to ensuring this work is properly protected and preserved for generations to come

Nottingham Civic Society has organised a number of visits to the Cathedral, including for the Heritage Open Days. More recently it has collaborated with the Victorian Society, sharing the Restoring Pugin project and the newly discovered paint schemes with wider audiences from around the UK.

We are most grateful for their support!

PS. If you are interested in contributing financially towards progressing this exciting restoration work at Nottingham Cathedral, please email the Cathedral Dean for an informal discussion: [email protected]
